A Fitting Crown - The Bridal Hairpiece
As the bride, you must be impeccably groomed from head to foot. As part of your wedding finery, you must choose what you will wear on your crowning glory.
The traditional bridal hairpiece is of course the wedding veil. Before, wedding veils were not meant to enhance but to hide; that is, hide the bride's imperfections to the reluctant groom's eyes. Arranged marriages were usually the forte then, after all.
Wedding veils are usually family heirlooms. These may have been part of a great-great-great grandmother's wedding gown, which had been modified to become a wedding hairpiece. It may be something rented out for the occasion. Whatever it is, the veil gives the bride an air of mystery and romance. It is usually worn with a simple pearl tiara of decorative hairpins to keep it in place.
Some brides wear more than the veil to their wedding. A floral wreath is a favorite. If you would like to wear fresh flowers on your wedding, ask the florist to pick the daintiest flowers and make them into a bridal wreath. Your bridal wreath should be mostly white so that it can match your wedding gown, or choose something in pastel as long as they fit your color scheme.
Jewel studded tiaras are a popular hairpiece choice, too. If you have a gorgeous diamond tiara, that will do perfectly. A tiara made of colored gems may also be a good idea. An elegant tiara made of costume jewelry or an ornamental comb will do just as well if you don't have the money for hair jewelry. Just make sure that your hairpiece complements your gown and accessories.
